Lots of great places to hike and walk around Lancaster County and beyond. Colin’s favorites are the trails he can take his wheelchair without worry and enjoy the outdoors.
--Ephrata Linear Park- After Gus’s sweet potato pancakes, we park at the small lot on Parkview and walk toward Akron on a nice day. Watch for Gnomes!
Ephrata Linear Park
"Last Thursday we went out for breakfast at Gus’s Keystone Family Restaurant in Ephrata. It’s my favorite place to eat breakfast. I had the sweet potato pancakes. They were awesome. The wait staff at the restaurant are very kind and funny. It makes for a very enjoyable experience.
Next, we went for a walk on the Ephrata Linear Trail. It was a pretty, sunny, day with a nice breeze. The trail is comfortable to walk on. This is important to me because I am in my wheelchair when we are out walking.
Along the path we see houses, trees and even some goats. My favorite part of the Linear Trail is the gnome village in Akron. There are gnome houses, a swimming pool for gnomes, as well as a gnome hot air balloon festival. It makes me feel happy to walk there."

-We start at Cornwall and park at the big barrel. The trail goes in both directions
-Middle Creek has many hiking trails! Visit Willow Point Trail, which is a nice short rolling trail. There also is a vantage point to see the lake area and all the birds. Check out the visitor center for seasonal migration information or their website.
- Nice park and close by Greco’s Ice Cream and the Wilbur Chocolate Store. The park has nice playgrounds for kids to have fun. Lititz is a fun and interesting place with lots of history and the street of shops is very cool (if you like shopping, which Colin does not!).
-Is a bit of a drive from Lancaster County, but they have a great accessible trail and a really nice visitor center to learn about all kinds of birds. Very cool! Hawk Mountain is a non-profit, so a fee is charged.
Cocalico High School Walking Trail
– a nice flat circular asphalt path. Nice for a quick walk and getting out on a day when you might be busy. Located across from the Cocalico High School and near the Softball fields.
More trails to follow as Colin gets rolling farther and farther and keeps reporting back! Help support all these great places by making a donation to keep them going for future generations!
